Don't say that quote isn't cute. It is. It made me think that the book was much more romantic than it actually was - I realised that it wasn't as romantic when I realised this quote was actually talking about the main character, Amory and a fatherlike figure.
2) "It was always the becoming he dreamed of, never the being."
I don't think I've ever been able to relate to something better. I'll let you take from that what you want.
3) "I'm a slave to my emotions, to my likes, to my hatred of boredom, to most of my desires..."
“You are not!” She brought one little fist down onto the other.
“You’re a slave, a bound helpless slave to one thing in the world, your imagination.”
Just take a moment.
Appreciate the quote.
When I first read it, it was a quote I overlooked. But then one day I happened to be thinking about it and I realised the full impact of it. It's underrated.
